Product description

A metal house sign does two jobs at once: it makes your home easy to find for visitors, deliveries, taxis, and emergency services, and it gives your entrance a clean, considered finish. Metal is the natural choice outdoors — it shrugs off the weather without fading or warping and keeps its edge for years, where a printed or wooden sign would tire. Whether you want a simple number by the door, a house name across the gate, or your full address on the wall, there's a metal and a style to match your home — and because every sign is made to order, it's yours down to the font and colour.

Materials

Aluminium

Lightweight, weatherproof, and corrosion-resistant, aluminium is our go-to for metal house signs. It's printed in full colour and sealed with a UV laminate, so you can have any colour, font, or logo and it won't fade outdoors. It's the most flexible option for size and design, from a small number plate to a large name-and-address sign.

• Material: Aluminium (75% recycled)

• Thickness: 1–2 mm

• Production: Full-colour UV print

• Use: Indoor and outdoor

• Mounting: Screws with caps, or standoff fixings

Acrylic with an aluminium backplate

For a bold, three-dimensional look, an acrylic front is mounted on a solid aluminium backplate and held off the wall with standoff fixings. The layered effect catches the light and gives a premium, architectural finish that suits contemporary homes especially well, while the aluminium backplate keeps it weatherproof.

• Material: Acrylic front on an aluminium backplate

• Use: Indoor and outdoor

• Mounting: Standoff fixings (sits proud of the wall)

Stainless steel (small plaques)

Stainless steel gives a crisp, contemporary metal finish and is extremely hard-wearing. It's laser-engraved rather than printed, and it's made in smaller sizes, so it's ideal for a neat, premium house number plaque rather than a large name sign.

• Material: Stainless acid-proof steel

• Thickness: 1 mm

• Production: Fibre-laser engraving

• Maximum size: 180 × 180 mm

• Mounting: Screws or adhesive

How to choose your metal house sign

Name, number, or both?

Decide what the sign needs to say before you size it. A number on its own can be compact and still read from the pavement. A house name, or a number combined with the street, needs more room — especially if the house sits back from the road. On the design page you can add your number, name, street, or all three, and see the balance before you order.

Which metal is right for you?

Choose aluminium for full colour, larger sizes, and the widest choice of styles. Choose the acrylic-and-aluminium backplate for a layered, modern look that stands off the wall. Choose stainless steel for a small, premium number plaque with an engraved finish. All three are made for the outdoors — unlike cast iron, corten, or brass, which we don't offer for house signs.

Size and visibility

As a rule of thumb, the further your sign sits from the road, the larger the digits or lettering need to be. For a wall or gate seen from the street, go bigger than you think; for a front door a passer-by walks up to, a smaller sign reads fine. You set the exact dimensions on the design page.

How to fit your metal house sign

Every sign arrives ready to mount, with the fixing you choose at the design stage:

  • Screws with caps — a clean, permanent fix into brick, render, or wood, with neat matching caps over the screw heads.

  • Standoff fixings — hold the sign slightly off the wall for a raised, three-dimensional effect; ideal for the acrylic-and-aluminium option.

  • Adhesive — a no-drill option for smooth, clean surfaces where you'd rather not make holes.

FAQ

What metals do your house signs come in?

Aluminium is the main choice — lightweight, weatherproof, and printed in full colour. There's also an acrylic front on an aluminium backplate for a layered look, and stainless steel for a small, premium number plaque.

Are metal house signs weatherproof?

Yes. Aluminium and the acrylic-and-aluminium backplate are made for the outdoors and cope with rain, sun, and frost without fading, rusting, or warping.

Can I have my house name and number on the same sign?

Yes. Add your number, house name, and street in whatever combination you like, and set the layout on the design page.

What size should a metal house sign be?

It depends on how far the sign sits from the road and how much it needs to say. A number read from the pavement can be small; a name or full address for a house set back from the road needs to be larger. You choose the exact size when you design it.

How do I fix a metal house sign to the wall?

Choose screws with caps for a permanent fix, standoff fixings for a raised, 3D effect, or adhesive for a no-drill option on smooth surfaces. It arrives with everything you need.

How long will a metal house sign last?

Aluminium and stainless steel are long-lasting outdoor materials that hold their finish for years; a quick wipe now and then keeps them looking new.
