Here at Signomatic we want to take our share of climate responsibility and are committed to preventing and reducing our impact on the environment. We do this by offsetting the carbon dioxide emissions generated by our operations.
Our carbon offset action involves financing a measure outside the organisation. This measure must lead to an emissions reduction equal to the emissions we wish to offset. The emissions reduction will, therefore, lead to reduced emissions somewhere else.
Here at Signomatic we calculate our carbon dioxide emissions every year and offset the emissions generated by our sign production and customer shipping. The carbon offsetting then takes place in cooperation with Tricorona Climate Partner, a company that helps other companies and organisations to take their share of responsibility for sustainability and climate issues. Tricorona offers various emission reduction projects with credible offset certification.
We have chosen to offset emissions through the “Tropical Mix” tree planting project. This unique forest project is being carried out in several provinces in Panama, where deforestation is a major problem. During the project period, over 1.9 million trees have been planted, so far contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions of around 135,100 tonnes. The project has been certified by Gold Standard, the only certification standard approved and trusted by more than 80 international environmental organisations, including WWF International.
